Adjustment disorders of infant
Adjustment disorders An adjustment disorder is where there is a temporary reaction in the infant lasting days or weeks but no longer than four months, and a clearly identifiable environmental event such as the mother returning to work or the family moving house. Well-established sleep patterns can be disturbed as a consequence of change in a baby’s or toddler’s environment. Changes that are frequently reported to disturb sleep include the birth of a sibling, a parent being absent, a grandparent coming to stay, mother returning to work, the infant starting child care or being looked after by somebody else, or the infant and parent(s) being separated with a hospitalisation of the infant or a parent.
