Etiological Formulations of Hypochondriasis
A number of theories have been presented to explain hypochondriacal behavior. For years, the psychoanalytic formulation of hypochondriasis has been the predominant conceptual framework. More recently, the psychoanalytic conceptualization of hypochondriasis has been replaced with models that emphasize the influences of learning, cognition, and attitudes.
