Sleep problems of infant

Sleep problems of infant Sleep problems present in a number of ways. There are babies who find it
difficult to settle to sleep, those who settle but wake and cannot get back to sleep
alone and always require intervention, and there are babies who wake for long
periods. When parents present with a sleep problem with their baby in the first few weeks of life it is often because the reality of the 24-hour-a-day demands of
a baby does not relate to the parents’ expectations. In these early weeks and months new parents need information to understand their infant’s capacities in
relation to sleep, and require support to help them make the adjustment to being parents.
After three to four months, parents’ expectations change and they begin to
expect fewer interruptions at night. From four to six months on, unsettled
infants may be described in different ways.
